Background of Residential Homes
To be at home is part of life. Article 19 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities recognizes the right of persons with disabilities to live and participate in the community. Article 22 recognizes that no person with disabilities, regardless of place of residence or living arrangements, shall be subjected to arbitrary or unlawful interference with his or her privacy, family, home or correspondence or other types of communication or to unlawful attacks on his or her honour and reputation.
Objectives of Residential Homes
Residential Homes are a social protection measure for people with disabilities that still need the protection and security of in-patient services for their daily life. The guiding principle for the Residential Homes in urban and rural areas states “naturally in the middle of it all”
Background of Day Care Centres
The Day Activity Centres is a social protection measure and offer low-threshold activities of vocational and social rehabilitation for people with mental, physical and psychological disabilities and enable clients to self-experience a productive and creative development. This measure is part of a rehabilitation measure chain that follows a person-centred approach building on an individual assistance plan.
Objectives of Day Care Centres
The Day Activity Centres provide assistance to vulnerable groups and their main aim is to integrate people with mental, physical and psychological disabilities into society and economy. The Day Activity Centre concept follows the objective of preserving and regaining physical and mental abilities as well as psychological and emotional strength.
