The MAKANAK Initiative, part of the Skills4Trends Project implemented by the Internationaler Bund (IB), is advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across Egypt’s workplaces. Through a Training of Trainers (ToT) program, selected HR managers are equipped to deliver DEI sessions to management, employees, and recruiters, helping organizations foster more inclusive and equitable work environments.
MAKANAK empowers women and differently abled persons (DAP) through tailored entrepreneurship mentoring, inclusive hiring guidance, and leadership training. In collaboration with Alexandria University, Borg El-Arab Technological University, Sadat City University, and local partners, the initiative aims to improve conditions for over 400 beneficiaries and promote equal opportunities across Egypt.
A recent highlight was the Direct Recruitment Day held on September 20, 2025, organized by the Vocational Training and Employment Center (VTEC) under the Alexandria Business Association (ABA). In partnership with Sadat City University’s Center for Students with Special Needs and Al Wadi Group of Companies, the event led to the direct employment of university graduates with disabilities—a significant step toward inclusive employment.
Funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by Sequa gGmbH in cooperation with the IB, ABA, and the Sadat City Investors Association, the MAKANAK Initiative continues to build a sustainable, fair, and inclusive labor market in Egypt.
