It is with great dismay that we have all been following the news about the devastating earthquake in Morocco over the last few days. The natural disaster has not only caused great destruction, but has also claimed many lives and left thousands homeless.
We are very concerned and are in daily contact with our partner "L'Heure Joyeuse" (HJ), a non-profit association on the ground in Casablanca, Morocco. They report terrible things and are shocked by the devastation caused by the earthquake. We have been working with HJ for a long time and jointly support the "Altazir" project, for example, which provides young Moroccans with vocational training and job opportunities. 75 apprenticeships as industrial electricians or air conditioning technicians have been created, which are currently being used by 59 young people.
Our partner HJ runs other facilities, including a training centre in Bouskoura, which can no longer be visited due to destruction caused by the earthquake. Exactly how and when this will continue is not foreseeable at the moment.
In addition, our partner HJ is actively involved in the relief measures that are now being initiated. For example, the president and the director are currently in Marrakech, from where all the aid is being organised.
Donations are now urgently needed for this. Your financial support is crucial to provide the urgently needed relief supplies and medical care. Any amount, large or small, can make a big difference.
Together we can give the people of Morocco hope and support during this difficult time.
We thank you in advance for your generous support.
