dm-drogerie markt and the Internationaler Bund (IB) have jointly won the ECR Award 2021 in the category "Hero:in of the hour". The award was presented for the establishment of Corona Quick Test Centers at dm stores. dm had agreed on a cooperation with the IB for this purpose.
By setting up Corona rapid test centers, dm had helped to significantly improve the testing infrastructure in Germany. For this, the jury presented the ECR Award.
Two months after the start of the project in March 2021, there were 400 test centers in dm stores nationwide. The IB, the IT specialist Netyano Software and many other helpers were involved in the project. The innovative character particularly impressed the jury: The entire test procedure is digital and thus extremely efficient - starting with the booking of appointments in the dm app to the transmission of the test result to the integration of the test results in the Corona warning app.
Cooperation between dm and the IB bears fruit
At peak times, dm operated more than 500 rapid test centers. None of this would have worked without the dedicated dm employees who volunteered as testers and were trained by the German Red Cross. At the initiative of dm, the IB helped to acquire further employees*.
"The ECR Award is a great distinction and great recognition for all those who have contributed to this project," says dm Managing Director Christian Harms.
"This award is also a recognition for the many helpers* who contributed to the functioning of the test centers," said IB Board Chairman Thiemo Fojkar. "We are very pleased that our cooperation with dm, which we only entered into this year, has already proved so fruitful."
With the ECR Award, GS1 Germany annually honors cross-company and cross-competition cooperation projects in which the project partners are committed to process optimization within value networks."
