On 12 December 2019 Ayder (Alternativ Yasam Dernegi), Turkey and the IB (Internationaler Bund), Germany, signed a Memorandum of Understanding confirming a strategic partnership and supporting a sustainable future 2030. The two like-minded organisations started joining forces to help people to develop in freedom, to shape their own lives, to integrate into society, to take on personal responsibility and to actively help shape the development of society. Both partners are politically non-aligned and non-denominational.
The first joint project of the IB International Cooperation and Ayder on behalf of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Gaziantep, Turkey started in November 2019. The Promotion of Economic Prospects Project (PEP) is supporting Syrian refugees and vulnerable Turkish citizens with vocations training measures and job oppertunities in the field of gardening in close cooperation with the private sector and municipalities. The measures take into account previously obtained knowledge, skills, and work experiences as well as the needs of the local Turkish labour. Small companies and future entrepreneurs are supported through training, networking opportunities, and the facilitation of a better understanding of the market environment, which includes Turkish opportunities.
For Syrians, all measures include Turkish language training – as speaking a country’s language is the single most important skill for integration into the society and labour market. To boost women’s
participation in formal employment, child care is provided. Whenever possible, the measures seek to foster social cohesion between Syrians and Turkish citizens through shared events and activities.
The measures directly contribute to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations (UN) such as: SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 8: Decent Work & Economic Growth, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequality.
