Since 2021 there has been a partnership between the German IB Oberschule Neuenhagen near Berlin and the Polish school Szkola Podstawowa No. 2 near Poznan.
This June, two seventh-grade classes met at the youth hostel in Colditz Castle near the eastern German city of Leipzig. The main objective of the meeting at the Renaissance castle was for the German and Polish pupils to get to know each other - including through creative workshops on art, music and culture, which were led by two interculturally trained language trainers in German, Polish and English.
In addition to a city tour in Leipzig, a trip to an amusement park went down particularly well with the young people. Apart from to the planned program, they also had plenty of free time to spend with each other.
The youth exchange, which is funded by the European Union's Erasmus+ program, serves to promote cultural encounters and understanding.
