On May 7, 2020, the IB President, Petra Merkel, and the two members of the Board of Directors, Thorsten Schäfer-Gümbel (GIZ) and Karola Becker (IB), met at the IB's Headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany to discuss the possibilities of further cooperation. Both organisations are active in international cooperation and committed to the goals of sustainable global development.
Besides the current situation of the refugee crises and the impact of the pandemic, other main topics of discussion were questions of how to shape international migration, questions of digital education and pedagogy as well as questions of inclusive educational concepts.
The IB and the GIZ intend to continue their talks, and the current meeting should be the start of a series of expert discussions.
