The first Rwanda Forum of the DGD Förderstiftung took place in Marburg and Frankenberg at the end of August 2024. Participants were education stakeholders from business, politics and civil society, whose aim is to create a strong network to bring vocational training in wood technology in Rwanda up to international standards. The aim is to promote mobility at local, regional and international level.
The Internationaler Bund (IB) has been committed to improving vocational training in the wood sector in Rwanda since 2021. Through the “proWOOD” project, it is committed to promoting the innovation and competitiveness of companies in the wood processing industry and making young people fit for the labor market. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung - BMZ) via sequa gGmbH.
The IB also supports skilled workers and companies throughout the entire process of labor migration to Germany, including the necessary official procedures.
In addition to representatives of the IB, the forum brought together a wide variety of stakeholders to see how to proceed in the future, including the prefabricated house manufacturer FingerHaus , the Giessen-Friedberg Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK Gießen-Friedberg), the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (Zentralverband des deutschen Handwerks ZDH), the Marburg-Biedenkopf District Job Centre (Kreisjobcenter Marburg-Biedenkopf) and the development organization Sequa gGmbH WBS.
